Well written post, and still timely, almost two years later. I've been collecting Kindle freebies, in hopes of finding something good. Let's just say THANK GOD these books were free. The synopsis may sound tempting, the first page even might tempt a reader browsing in a book store to buy, but the sheer number of badly written novels just staggers the imagination. No, my own novel isn't out there yet -- I have never forgotten what you told me you'd learned from all this, Doug. Not to let your baby out until it's ready. Bravo, Doug! I'm also on another mailing list - Murder Must Advertise, where some members are published on Kindle, the rest have gone the traditional route. It so happened that a lot of people there insisted that since publishing on Kindle is so new, the average reader will forgive them a few errors (I disagree with that, BTW).
