Bravo, Doug! Well written post, and still timely, almost two years later. I've been collecting Kindle freebies, in hopes of finding something good. Let's just say THANK GOD these books were free. The synopsis may sound tempting, the first page even might tempt a reader browsing in a book store to buy, but the sheer number of badly written novels just staggers the imagination.

No, my own novel isn't out there yet -- I have never forgotten what you told me you'd learned from all this, Doug. Not to let your baby out until it's ready.

Its interesting you say this (I came over from IWW). I'm also on another mailing list - Murder Must Advertise, where some members are published on Kindle, the rest have gone the traditional route. It so happened that a lot of people there insisted that since publishing on Kindle is so new, the average reader will forgive them a few errors (I disagree with that, BTW). I'm going to send the mailing list to your blog. Regards.

Sorry to hear you were under the weather during your presentation. It didn't show ... at least not to me. :-) Will send a private email for your offer of "The Widow". Cheers.

Hi!

Let me send you a copy of The Widow! Thanks for your wonderful words about me. It means a lot, as I was suffering from the flu and thought the reading didn't go as well for me as they usually do.

Thank you!!!

Suzanne (PS. I have Google Alerts if you are curious!)
